For some reason my overclock does this, and it didn't used to. More volts doesn't fix it.

Is it anything? Should I be, uh, worried?

I know it's a stupid question.

rofl!

On a more serious note though, why is it that CPU frequency fluctuates according to programs like CPU-Z etc?

i can't find it right now, but there was a thread in "highly technical"
about the mathematical proof, .9999(repeating) = 1

well, if you accept that proof, then 3.1999 = 3.2.

if the software is accurate, your computer is about 1 MHz shy
of 3.2 Ghz.

where does the 3.1999 number come from - CPU-z, System,
Sisoft ?

with most engineering measurements, there is a tolerance.
3.1999.9 +_ .0002, or something.

I wouldn't let it bother me. I have a screenshot that shows 3.199, 3.2001, and 3.2 all at the same time with 3 separate programs. Now, obviously at least two of the programs are wrong. :p

Don't let it bother you. A number is meaningless - just a human construction.

I guess you could call it "overclocker's vanity" -- it (usually) wears off after you've overclocked a bunch of chips.
