e6300 temps to high?

My idle temps are about 40c, and full load from orthos is about 54c. I wouldnt mind the temps to much but I would think my cooling would do a better job then that. Even if I crank up my fans all the way it only drops the temp about 1c. Ive remounted several times and even went to the trouble of lapping my cpu to try to lower my temps. I know it should go up quite abit with ocing but it seems like thats alot more then what ive seen other people running at

my system
core 2 duo e6300 @ 2.86ghz
Gigabyte P35-DS3R
scythe ninja cooler, with 120mm siverstone fan
2x250gb hdds, and 1 80gb drive.
evga 8800gt (stock cooler)
and all in an antec nine hundred case with the extra side fan
500w enermax liberty

Maybe you don't have good airflow inside your case. What's the temp inside the case?
