E6300 or E4300

I had originally wanted a e6300 for a build in April but the e4300 seems to be a better deal. It OC's to 3.4Ghz on most review sites and it will be less expensive. Does the e6300 have anything going for it that really makes a difference in real world terms?

The E4300 has a higher multiplier which can be moved down to allow you to mess with various FSB speeds. I would go with the E4300.

The E4300 allows you to overclock without as much stress on the mainboard and memory as the E6300. If you are not overclocking, you might as well get the E6300 as at stock, it is faster and has Virtualization, if you use that.

It depends on your motherboard. Mine doesn't support a 1333MHz bus so I'm getting the e4300 and planning on overclocking running it at a 1066Mhz bus. That way the only thing that's over clocked is the processor.

I "only" came to 3.3 Orthos stable@1.45V.

Temps are 65 full load with a Scythe Ninja, when i go to 1.5V, i am over 70.So keep in mind, that most review sites tested their samples at maximum voltages which are imho not practical for everyday use without watercooling.

Problem with the E6300/E6400 is that there is an extra disabled 2mb L2 cashe just taking up space. I would prefer to have an un=disabled chip

IMO if you intend to overclock buy the one thats cheapest. As the E4300 price drops it'll be the better bang for buck choice. So far testing has shown on average a OCed E6300 only 50MHz faster than a OCed E4300.

Definately planning on OCing the cpu. Got the S3 Gigabyte mobo and some PC6400 ram so that would work very well with the e4300. Guess I'll wait for the April price drops. Thanks.
