I'm presenting some options here...but I'm confused...
The OCZ is very nice RAM. The PC2 8500 use D-9 chips and are great for OC.

If you game, definitely look at upgrading your graphics card first. Enjoy what you have now and save up your pennies to buy an 8800gts-320. It will help future proof you and give you a MASSIVE boost in performance.

Sounds good but I also wanted to get my system up to 2GB before the RAM prices start going back up.

I'll get back to the RAM issue later...

I finally reseated my Tuniq Tower but I have a problem...

I know that the AS5 hasn't cured but I don't think that it helped. My idle temps have risen about 5C-8C and my load temps are about 1C-2C higher as well.

It is a hot night here in Spanish Town, Jamaica. My room temperature is 36C and the CPU is idle at 40C. Orthos will load it up to between 63C-67C (varies).

All temperatures were measured using SpeedFan.

What do I do now and where do I go from here?

Here is a picture of my Arctic Silver 5 application.

I used a card to spread a thin layer first then a small drop in the middle.

Unfortunately, I had even more than that on it before....:(...(don't laugh).

How should I do it then?

That looks good to me. It seems to be a very thin layer. You can actually see the parts of the heatspreader in various sections. You don't want to have most of the heatspreader "bare" from the paste because there will be sections of hot air bubbles.

It could be that the Tuniq is not sitting tight. Most likely though it's the room temperature itself that is the culprit. The fan has to work with 36*C air temperature to begin with. That's probably good 15*C higher than I have at my house. This means under load, you can have about 15*C higher temps than I do (mine are 51-52 => converted to yours would be 66-67*C on the Big Typhoon).

hmm, I would say try again with a very thin bead down the center, remember less is better

Based on the picture I posted before showing my AS5 application...

The less is better theory:
Would that mean that I should apply just a little in the middle similar in quantity to that shown in the photo?

Yes, a little in the middle. Actually, a thin line that goes down the center. The AS5's instructions on their site are great, they even show you where the cores are. Just follow what they say.

I still want to reseat my Tuniq again. I think there must be something I'm not doing right such as using too much AS5.

I also just ordered these to go with my rig:
(1) EVGA 320-P2-N811-AR GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card - Retail
(2) Thermaltake A2018 120mm Blue LED Case Fan - Retail (x2 - 1 intake, 1 exhaust)
(3) SAMSUNG Black 18X 2MB Cache SATA DVD Burner With LightScribe Technology - OEM

(1) This is going to be my pride and joy!!
(2) These are going to replace my currently low-performance 80mm case fans. This should help my temps a good deal...Do you think so?
(3) This will get rid of one set of cables by switching to SATA.

After all this, I'm still RAM confused but that's another issue.

Any advice, comments and/or suggestions are as usual very welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Cheex.

Yes, an awesome heatsink doesn't do so well with no case airflow. It's better than a stock heatsink with no case airflow, but doesn't compare to an awesome heatsink with excellent case airflow.

I read something somewhere that said I should have more intake than exhaust to reduce that amount of dust in my case and that this also helps the temperatures stay a bit lower. How valid is that claim. The fans come with controllers so...

Should I run them at the same or actually set the intake fan at a higher RPM?

Point of note: My load temperatures while gaming in a very hot room are about 55C (idle at 40C).

Orthos and TAT and all the others load up the CPU temps to way higher than that.

Since as those aren't programs that I "normally" run....is it safe to say that my temps are fine???

Can someone answer this please?

Gary Key said that I should be fine but I just don't like my temps...especially compared to what reviews and other people have said about the Tuniq Tower 120.

What should I do?
