I just setup my new parts last night and these are they:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (L2 Stepping)
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 (Revision 3.3, F10 BIOS)
G.SKILL DDR2-800 1GB (4-4-3-5)
Tuniq Tower 120

I'm having a slight dilemma though in regards to my temperatures. In the BIOS, I see 21C-23C for my CPU temperature. Easy Tune 5 shows me the same temperatures as in the BIOS. Speedfan is being ridiculous. In Core Temp, I see 42C-44C, when it does work.

Problem is, Core Temp crashes the system. What should I use to measure the temperatures accurately and safely and what should I believe?

Sad that you got an L2 stepping. :(

As for temps... just average all of them :) :)

J/k.

From what I've read and understood, coretemps is most "accurate" of most cpu monitoring programs.

doesnt really matter what stepping you have, its fast isnt it? :)

I trust my asus probe 2 to read my temps since theyre pretty low

1) What is so sad about L2 Stepping versus the B2 Stepping?
2) What has been the highest OC for the L2 Stepping?
3) Can I trust Intel's TAT reading?

I trust my asus probe a lot more, TAT is outdated. :p

I can hit 3.2 just fine, just needs more volts... but really... 100mhz more... but I need more volts? No thanks.

1) Can Easy Tune 5 be trusted?
2) What should my temperatures actually be like considering that the AS5 hasn't cured yet?

Easy Tune is similar to Asus Probe i think. Its the software that came with my DS3.

Core Temp 0.95 crashes my system.

I'm at stock speed so what should my temps be like seeing as though the AS5 hasn't cured yet?

1) Alot of people say that the L2s do not o/c as well as the B2s
2) I am hitting 3.4 with a weak zalman 7700cu. Others have gone MUCH higher. I'm not so sure that B2 is that much better.
3) Yes

TAT is made for mobile pentiums, so i really dont trust it that much. This is why it says Pentium M for your cpu.

That might be so but i need to know what my temps really are before i start OCing. I need to get some correct readings.

BTW: The ambient temperature is the temperature of where you live right?

TAT is showing me 46C idle and 60C at load. Keep in mind that the Arctic Silver 5 has not yet cured.

How are these temps? Can TAT be trusted?

I am getting similar temperatures (a couple of degrees lower) but my E6400 is running @3.4Ghz 1.4v. If I were you, I would try reinstalling the heatsink/AS5. It took me several reinstallations to get to this temps. FIY, my ambient is almost 26C and mobo temp is 37C.

Can someone in the know, tell me what is going on here on this screenshot.

I need a breakdown, a play-by-play if you will...:)
