E4300 Overclocks?

My e4300 seems to be about average. Does 3.5ghz @ 1.55v, but not very stable, just enough for some benches. Sweet spot appears to be 3.2ghz @1.42v, which has memtested and orthos stable for 12+ hours. Still fooling, but I am not very successful getting a higher FSB yet even with reduced mutlpliers and lax memory speeds.

OC update, after fiddling around more:

3303mhz with 9x 367 1.46v
temps: 46c to 68c (this thing is burning!!)

wow, very impressive e4300 oc, 1.55v huh? how safe would you say that is on air cooling? i would like to try that with lowered multi and 1:1 fsb/mem ratio.
 
ok quick update after some more flidding.

dropped mult and fsb:ram ratio to 1:1
3240mhz with 8x 404 1.55v
not sure how stable this is, but temps seems to be running the same as 367fsb @ 1.46v.
will run some prime and superpi for results, stay tuned



update:
ok this thing is definately not stable, gets errors.

superpi 1m:
3,240mhz 8x405 mem 810: 19.0xx < 5-5-5-15
3,248mhz 8x406 mem 812: 18.720 < 4-4-4-12

what do you guys think?
and which do you think will yield higher overall performance for gaming.

Running with 1.55v

this is definately more stable than running with 400+fsb x8
will try prime overnight..... probably gonna fail

Sorry for hijacking this thread but i am having some trouble with overclocking my E4300. Thought i could ask you all for help. here are the details:

Ok here are my specs. E4300 CPU, Gigabyte GA-965p-DS3 Rev 3.3, EVGA 8800GTS, G.Skill PC-6400 DDR2 800 RAM, and a FSP 450W PSU.

I followed Legion Hardwares guide to over clocking. Here?s what I did, disabled ?CPU Enhanced Halt?, ?CPU Thermal monitor?, CPU EIST Function?, ?No execute memory protect?, and ?Limit CUPID Max to 3.?

Then I went in and set the FSB to 386MHz, CPU multiplier at 9x, ?PCI Express Frequency (MHz)" to 100MHz, Set the memory multiplies to 2.0. I left all the voltages at stock.

When is saved and rebooted the comp posted and booted up windows. But when I ran CPU-Z, it said I was still running at 1.8ghz.

What did I do wrong?
 
I have an e4300 that is running Super Hot. I cannot seem to get any better temps than 51/49 on both cores. I reapplied the ceramique, I have used many different clock settings, and I still get the same temps at stock that I do at 3.0ghz running at 1:1 on 667 memory, linked and sync'd. When I turn it back to 1.8ghz, I leave it at linked and sync'd so I effectively take my memory down to ddr2 400. My volts are stock. I have 4 antec tri-cool fans set to high with the front fans and the door fan pulling air in and the rear fan blowing out. The CPU cooler is an AC7. I have the corsair dominator ram fan in. I have no idea why the temps are behaving like that.

Oh, I am running the new 680i LT board. Perhaps someone has heard of temp issues with it?



 
it looks like a bunch of us got a batch of e4300's that run really hot, mine runs pretty hot too, even before i ran 1.55v, @ 1.4v my temps would be from 45 idle to 65+ load. and this is with an ultra120.

maybe u can try lapping the cpu IHS and the heatsink.
 
When I run Orthos, it gets all the way to 72 on the 3rd test 15mins in. I mean, that is too hot, right? I'm selling this PC and the last thing I want is my customer coming to me saying he's getting BSODs and then come to find out the ram is fried from the heat created by the processor.

Or, it's all a misread and there is something wrong w/ the sensor. I probably should have bought the 680i T1 for $15 more but the reviews were not so good. I am fully aware of all the issues with the 680i chipset (eating ram, bsod's, etc) but there isn't a better option in SLi. The reviews for the MSI 650i weren't that great unless I want to spend $160 on the deluxe. And at that price-point, I'm entering 680i territory for literally $10 more. I have jumped in with both feet on this Conroe thing. So far, the performance is nice but at what cost?


 
I have no idea how high my E4300 will go...my mobo limits me to 290 FSB. Due to relaxed memory timings and speeds required @ 290, I just run @ 2.4Ghz (267 FSB). My overall system speed is about equal between 2.4Ghz and 2.6Ghz because of the lower mem timings needed @ 2.6, so I just run @ 2.4 for lower temps and reduced system stress. Before anyone tells me to get a new mobo, this was planned. I'm on a very tight budget and was able to upgrade from a 2.4Ghz XP-Mobile to a 2.4Ghz Core2Duo for $250. This basically doubled my system performance, which I found very satisfying for $250. I'm happy. Anything that's not hdd or video card-limited runs between 2x-3x faster than my previous system.
 
Got mine up to 3.0GHz even on stock voltages. I tried it out at 3.15GHz but had to bump the voltages up to get it stable - I got to 1.368V to run 25 mins stable when I decided that I'd sacrifice a bit of speed in order to keep the temps down.

At 3.0Ghz and 1.325V, it ran 9 hours of Orthos with core temps getting up around 66C.

I was also able to leave C1E and EIST on for power savings. All in all, I'm happy given that the processor only cost $119!

I've got an e4300 at 3.2GHz @ 1.41v. Can go higher but why? Cooling is by a Corsair Nautilus 500 and temps rarely get much above mid-to-high 50C while 100% usage on both cores.

Hmm. After reading some of these entries, I'm wondering if I can just back down the voltage a little bit, leave the FSB at 3.0 or 3.2, and see if it's stable. Right now I'm running 1.4 vcore and 3.2, and when I ran Orthos for 2 hours speedfan was telling me the CPU was running at 100C. Definitely not something it can do for long periods of time, even if it appears to be stable.

So right now I've got a very stable OC of 3GHz. I should be able to do 3.2, maybe I just have to play around with it some more. What's the highest temp the C2D can handle before I should start worrying? IE, if I get to 3.2, but it tops out at 70C @ load, is that bad? Too high? etc? Where does one draw the line and say "now THAT'S way too hot." I know it's gotta be before 100C. 😛

Dont 100% quote me on this, but in my reading before buying my set up, and the E4300, I want to say I saw a operating temp of 50-65c max. I read so many reviews and threads on it before buying it, trying to find the one I saw that at would be near impossible to find, but I want to say thats what I saw and stuck in my head.
 
I finally had some time to try to OC my pc. Could you please look this over, i seem to have hit a wall trying to get to 3.0ghz. To make a long story short i ended up using the Sync Mode on my bios, made my ratio a 1:1 when selected. I then up the CPU Fsb +33mhz until i got to a stopping point. As of right now i can not take it up any higher then 1133fsb=2.54ghz CPU shows 2.555, x9, Bus speed 283.3, rated fsb 1133.3 . My memory is at 566mhz, and on CPU it shows Freq. 283.3Mhz, FSD Ram 1:1,CL 4.0, 4, 4, tras 31, Trc16, 2t . If i try to go to 1166 it boots up to a black screen, and i have to shut the pc down. I did try to up the voltage to 1.4 on the cpu but no luck. Should i take the Voltage Higer? How High? I have not tried to up the voltage on the ram or NB. My bios is the Phoenix rev.0202, I have never flashed a bios so am not sure if i need to do that or if it would help any.

I would like some help on getting my system to at least 100% OC, I am new to this so if you could spell it out for me i would appreciate it. Here are my specs.

Alright I finally got to 3.0ghz, I up'd the voltage to 1.41 on the cpu, changed my memory to unlinked and i set it to 400, and then changed my FSB=1333 for a 3.0ghz. I ran CPU-Z and my memory timings were at 3,3,3,12 with a ratio of 5:3.

I went into my bios and switch my mem timings to manual and 5,5,5,15. It didn't changed the ratio. I was looking for a 1:1 ratio. My freq. is 200mhz. Is this okay? How can i increase my timings and should I?

I am running ortho's now, but i did do 3dmark06 and my score went down 30 points from what i had clocked my pc earlier to 2.6ghz, How does this happen?

I bet with more volts she would go higher 🙂
 
Some of you guys should feel special. The highest my e6400 would go on stock vcore was 2.6. Anything past that wasn't completely stable. I'm currently at 338x8=2.7 with a vcore of 1.35 and although I've meddled just a little at 2.8 it was not stable even with a little voltage bump. I'm not trying to trash my setup so I backed down and that's where I'm staying. If you can crank her up with little or no vcore bump then you are among the lucky ones.
