I suppose you're right with Gamestop, but I still don't think Walmart knows much in this case (yet). I would be much more convinced if they had a date like Dec 5th, which is a Tuesday and a normal game release date. .

Why does everything have to be set in stone? Is there some international law set by the united nations that says games and movies "have" to be released on tuesday? That if a country dares release a game or movie on any other day besides tuesday, their going to be nuked from orbit. That is the only way to make sure they will never release a movie again outside of tuesday.

For your information, left 4 dead was released on November 17, 2008, which was a monday.

I've spent over 50 hours playing Torchlight over the past three months. Does this game ever frickin end?

I completed the mines, beat down the Orek dude, and now am on Level 9 of the "Shadow Vault". Without spoilers, am I even close to finishing?

This game has been.....ok. Very very repititive, but I knew what I was buying. Still, I've had crappy luck in finding any items that have made me dance with joy. I understand that the items and treasures are random.....I guess my luck has just sucked so far.

Given the fact that I'm not really sure where I am at in the "story", I can't say I'm excited about TL2. Now Diablo III, on the other hand......

Problem is, I'm one of these obsessive compulsive types that feels like I need to truge my way completely through a game to get my money's worth. So I can't quit TL. I gotta see it through. But I hope it ends soon. I've got Crysis, Witcher, Company of Heros, and ME2 waiting for me in my Steam account (damn holiday sales).

I don't know why so many follow this norm, but they do. No it's not required, and I'm not sure why movies come to theaters on Friday and discs are released on Tuesdays... who knows, but that's generally how it happens.

I'm not saying it won't release this year, I even mentioned that it can still happen. All I'm saying is based on what I've seen nobody agrees on a release date so I don't believe Dec 1st is accurate. It LOOKS TO ME (remember, people can have opinions) like it's a placeholder date.

I can respect that opinion.

To me, a better release date would be November 25th, Black Friday.

If TL2 is released anytime in October, November or December, I fear that its going to be overshadowed by other games coming out for the holiday season.

Personally, I hope that TL2 shoots for a summer, maybe a mid-summer release.

Mid-summer would be great because the kids are out of school for summer vacation.

Technically speaking, no.

You already did. Shadow Vault is an infinite dungeon that was tacked on for post end-boss gameplay. You were done a long time ago.

I believe TL2 is slated for release within a few months, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm pretty certain the 12/1/2011 date for Diablo III is a placeholder. The game is believed to be arriving in Q4 2011, but Blizzard has not announced a date. If the game will come out in 2011, I'm betting you'll see a release date announced at Blizzcon (in October) or possibly earlier.

Torchlight 2 is scheduled to come out in July. Unfortunately, it was supposed to come out in June, but the 360 port of Torchlight 1 caused them to push the game back :(.

This cracked me up, imagine if no one had told him?

I seriously doubt D3 will be released before blizzcon. If anything, blizzcon will be used to hype up D3 - just in time for the 2011 holiday season.

He said they may ANNOUNCE it at (or before) blizzcon, not actually release it. What you said is exactly what he predicted would happen.

It cracked me up too. Thanks boozie! I woulda kept on playing.....at least for another 10-20 hours. At some point I have to think I would have said: screw it, I'm done.

Somewhere I must have missed a clue that the game was over. Shoot all that work to kill the baddies and I don't even get a thank you from the townsfolk? Ungrateful scum. Hopefully the Darkspawn from Dragon Age will decend upon them..........

I am completely burned out from those games. Torchlight was enjoyable, but I think I only got, maybe, 60% complete with the story.

meh.

Now, aside from the lax difficulty, I don't get why a lot of people are saying that this is more of a casual game than DII.

Aside from that, I'm just looking forward to:
- A game that my main system - a laptop with a low-end GPU, can play without problems
- A game that my wife and I can enjoy together in multiplayer.

The first game had a very, very strong mod community built around it; hopefully that trend'll continue with this game!

The loot, skills, difficulty, and limited classes all added up to a very casual experience. In the ARPG's that I enjoy, you have to put a lot of thought into your character build, and what items will best suit that build. Without that, it's just a turn off brain grind, and I can't stand that one bit.

Not really. Torchlight was fun enough I suppose, but nothing memorable for me.

I just noticed Dungeon Siege 3 is due shortly - I wonder what that will be like.

I completed Torchlight one time, never played it again ever since. I kept the soundtrack on my WMP/Winamp's playlist and I occasionally listen to it outside of the game while just browsing the web or playing another game with Torchlight's OST playing in the background. I hadn't completed Torchlight in my first playthrough however, I created three characters for the three classes, I ended up doing a full playthrough with the warrior. The story is so shallow and lightly presented (doesn't have any serious tone to it) and the voice-over was so generic that I actually forced myself to keep going to finish it.

With that said, I must say that I enjoyed it more overall than Titan Quest, Sacred 2 or any other similar Diablo clone I've played so far, and of course Diablo II itself remains on the throne to this day (for me, anyway). Now, am I excited about Torchlight 2? Short answer is no, absolutely not, but knowing how much of a sucker I am for games like that to fill up the nothingness until Diablo III/Skyrim/Rage/DOOM 4/Mass Effect 3/Guild Wars 2 come out then I will most likely buy it and just play "for the heck of it" from time to time. It'll have multi-player though, so it will have a longer life span, that's until like a black hole Diablo III comes out and swallows all Torchlight 2's players base but the most hardcore fans.

I had a lot more fun playing a fan-made class than I did any of the standard three.

Torchlight was a pre-order for me.

Not too interested in TL2 or D3.

Would rather have a TQ2

Same developers making a spiritual successor.

Awesome, I loved Titan Quest. Torch Light and Titan Quest were really different types of titles, even if the game play was fairly similar. Titan Quest, to me, was deep, lots of different class combinations and areas you can focus on developing. My only real complaint was playing through the same game a few times to finally start getting good loot.

As others said, Torch Light was a much more casusal or lite experience. Still fun in it's own way, but I wouldn't spend hours grinding to level up or get items like I did in Titan Quest.

Anyway, thanks for that link!

I paid $5 each for Titan Quest and Torchlight. That's about right for the genre, which is rather meh. I'll probably get Torchlight 2 when it inevitably goes on a huge sale on Steam (probably Christmas).

I will likely not ever play Diablo 3, since Blizzard/Activision are anti-sale, and paying $60 for an action RPG is just not remotely worth it for me.

did they bother to include multiplayer this time? That's what really killed torchlight.
