E2180 CPU + HSF Height?

I did some searching and could not find the data.

I need to know the Height? of Core 2 E2160 + Its Retail HSF.

Sorry for the typo should be Height?

I need to fit it to a very small space and need to know the minimal Clearance.

- 2.5" CPU cooler
- 0.2" CPU

Note that CPU socket will sit about 0.3" above MB.

If you need a really short HSF and don't absolutely need a dual core, check out the retail boxed Celeron 4XX series. I've heard those heatsinks (not including fan) were about ½ the height of other retail boxed heatsinks.

Alternately you can get a heatsink/fan specifically made for socket LGA 775 and 1U rackmount cases. Unfortunately those are usually really noisy.

So 3" all together. Hmm.... Not so good.

It seems that the 1U rack Mount 775 HSF comes in two flavors.

With Fan Made by Dynatron.

Passive all Copper, made by Spire.

Assuming that there is General Good airflow in the case.

Would the quiet Spire be good enough?

Trying to use the 2160 in a notebook? The spire might work ok if using steedstep. But if running 24/7 I would use a small fan to increase the life of the cpu.
