E2160 stepping

i got mine from ewiz, but this was about two months ago. this was an oem model, since i opt'ed for aftermarket cooling like i always do.

i got a L2, and it does ~2.53ghz on stock voltage. however i am using perhaps the crappiest board on the market, with no overvoltage control at all and a max official 1066mhz fsb.

when i pick up a p31/p35 board in the near future, then we'll see how far this thing can go. i dont mind running my chips to the maximum voltage with respect to speed and heat.

I want to see how high I can get it on stock voltage with the stock cooler first. My room is pretty cold so I may even go for upping the voltage if temps will be nice to me.

I don't have the box handy to check the stepping, but I just ordered an e2160 from NewEgg last Monday 11/12 and it had no trouble at all hitting 3.0gHz with the stock cooling. Be sure to set the memory to 1:1 in the SoftMenu first, then have fun. I've been stressing it a bit and running a few different benchmarks, and the highest temp either has core has reached was 57 deg Celsius according to CoreTemp.

Easily one of the best computer investmenst I've made.

Hmm, didn't know CPU-Z did that, actually. 🙂 Just downloaded it, and here's what it said in the Stepping section:
Family: 6 Model: F Stepping: 2
Ext. Family: 6 Ext Model: F Revision: L2

No idea if that makes it G0 or M0 stepping, but I'm extremely happy with the CPU so far.

Oh, forgot to mention that I already ordered on Thursday. It will arrive on Tuesday. Anyone else get theirs from newegg?

got my e2140 from the egg last week.

got an abit ip35-e and N5 kingston ram.

right now i'm stable at 3.0hz

going for 3.2 right now.

only using 1.4 vcore.

I'm going to try for a 100% OC which will hopefully put me at 400x9 (3.6Ghz) I may try for a higher FSB with a lower clock speed. I just wanna push this thing lol

Haha, was just thinking the same thing. It's been running quiet and cool at 3.0Ghz for a week now, so I'm getting the itch to push it a little higher. Was just looking at fans over at NewEgg, but I'm tempted to see how high it'll run cool on the stock setup first.

Edit: Just wanted to add this: You can now buy a Cooler Master Gemini Heatsink and actually make money on the deal, almost. $28.99 with a $30 MIR gets you $1.01 back out of shipping, too. Don't think it'll fit in my case, but seems worth every penny. 😉

omg, what a deal.
hell if you don't like it or it doesn't work well for you, you don't loose a penny.
