E2140 overclocking

I have a E2140 1.6ghz dual core and i have it right now at 3.0ghz with stock volts.

Now when i try to get over 3.0ghz i get blue screens.
I tryed the volts at 1.4 and still get blue screens .

Here is the specs

Cpu 3.0ghz 1.325 stock Lapped flat cpu and cooler 45C max
FSB 372
Ram 778 stock ddr2 800
P45 gigabyte

We may need more information to help you out. What BIOS? What voltage do you have on the NB?

It's very possible you've hit the FSB wall of your processor. Most of these E2XXXs topped out FSB-wise in the 355 - 380ish range. Only a select few have ever done 400+. One of the users on this forum, Virtual Larry has 2 E2140s that he got to 8 x 400 for 3.2ghz, but his were early production IIRC.

Frankly, I'd consider yourself lucky you got to 3.0ghz -- 8 x 372 isn't bad! One last thing to check is to make sure you're running the RAM at a 1:1 ratio, at least until the CPU OC is set.

Ok didnt see the fsb wall at 355 to 380 that makes a lot of sense from what i seen it was 425 wall. I do have it at 1:1 ratio. I'm really happy with it can't believe i got 3.0ghz on stock volts :}
Now if i can only get my e8400 stop messing up. I had it a 4.0ghz now i can't get it over 3.2ghz think there might be something wrong with the cpu. And the 4ghz was almost stock volts.

Hmm. Mine take 1.425v (BIOS), 1.360v (CPU-Z under load) to reach 400x8 = 3.2Ghz, on a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R v1.0. Temps are pretty high too, something like 80C (20C to Tjmax), with a CoolerMaster HyperTX2 cooler under load.

If you are getting 3.0Ghz (stable - did you test it yet), on stock voltage, then you are doing really well. So well, that I would have to agree, there probably is some sort of FSB wall if you can't go farther. Sorry.

very few e2's can reach 425 fsb.

Yeah i ran prime95 for 3 days with no errors on stock volts.

When i tested like that i think the max temp was 54C

Just going to keep it like that.

Going to post about my e8400 cause i having trouble with that.

My E2160 is kind of stunted @ 3.0Ghz as well, I don't think it's really worth the hassle, is 3.1 or 3.2 Ghz going to really make that much difference?

No not at all really 200... I'm happy just seeing what the limit was and found it..
