Clarence's band played the Keystone in Palo Alto several times. Once, Bruce showed up, came in the front door by himself, insisted on paying the cover charge, and refused to have a fuss made over his-self. I on the other hand, had been directed by the club owner to act as security and not let anyone bug him. He said he was "ok" and I didn't have to be there, and I just said I'll be here anyway, since MY boss wants me to. He chuckled and said "ok" and proceeded to boogie down to Clarence's group for the next hour or so, before going backstage and disappearing out the back and back up to his parents home, which is on the peninsula, or so it was said.

Clarence was a magical Sax player who played with some of musics best. RIP Your music came from the soul and you are the best.
