I know this is not a hot deal, per se, but it can help quite a few people that go in on the estamps/hp deal from Buy.com.

I just read an article over at CNET that e-stamps will no longer be doing internet postage.
http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1007-200-3868126.html?tag=st.ne.1002.thed.ni

I emailed them and asked if I could still use the postage. They said it would only be good until dec or I could get a refund.

I called them up at 888-437-8267. I was told that if I get an RMA # and send the vault back, they will have a check sent back to me for what's left. They said it would take about 3-6 weeks and the check would come directly from the USPS.

Mod, I'm sorry if this is not a hot deal and you can lock if you like. I just thought it would be very helpful to many people. Since so many of us had technical problems that prevented us from really using the product, there are many people with postage unused that we thought would go to waste, so I do think a refund on this is quite a hot deal (at least for me).

Thanks!
Lex

I guess a rebate promo for $175 printers isn't really a great business plan. Oh well, thanks for the 930c.

Well I guess I'll need to RMA my unused vault and get back my $50. Of course I'll use my free Stamps.com scale to weigh the return package. And I'll use up some of that free $40 Stamps.com postage to pay for the return mailing. And I'll be using the free HP 930c to print it out.

Thanks e-stamp and Anandtech!

This is a VERY important thread! E-stamp is not closing, just re-focusing out of online stamps (strange name for a company if not dealing in stamps!).

"E-Stamp is encouraging its Net postage customers to migrate to Neopost Online's Simply Postage service" -- I wonder what they will offer us???

"Customers may continue to buy postage until Dec. 31, and the company said it plans to give customers support and accept postage returns through March 1, 2001."

If you return the vault (assuming you filled it) for 50 bucks, then the printer really WAS $0.00...(maybe less than free if you got in on the first e-stamp promo for 43 *I think*). It is a shame as I was starting to like E-stamps...

They may as well close. And I don't anyone who used E-stamp will want that NeoPost thing... there's a large monthly fee because you MUST use their equipment. Stamps.com will use the Dymo printer, but they have a $5/mo fee I believe.

So... who wants to buy a slightly used Dymo EL60 thermal label printer?? ;)

Bad news dudes! Here is an excerpt from the "Migration" policy. Check out the last phrase!

In line with US Postal Service regulations, all postage vaults (the little black brick that plugs into the back of your computer) must be returned to E-Stamp. Call Customer Service at 1 800 734-7496 and you will be instructions and an RMA number for returning the vault. ]Refunds for postal vaults will be granted for units purchased and shipped after September 1, 2000.

Miget be good idea to get the update while it is still available. Perhaps we can continue to use our postage until it runs out.
