E-mail Purports to be patch from microsoft

Greetings fellow crunchers, folders, etc:

On BBR it was mentioned there's an e-mail going around that looks exactly like a Microsoft patch. And it's a very convincing job.

Just a friendly reminder that Microsoft does not send out patches via e-mail, only get M$ patches from their website.

Someone's mentioned it on OT and I think the sticky thread might be about it?

Sends out a .EXE attachment, which anyone with 1/2 a brain *should* realize is most likely a virus as MSFT would NEVER send a .EXE in emails to people.

But...ya never know! 🙂

That's cool, I didn't check to see if it was posted elsewhere, I only spy in this forum 🙂. Figured it's best to overcommunicate this than to assume everyone should know better 😀.

As you said, overcommunicating about these kind of mails won't harm anybody. 😀

BTW, I didn't see the topic in OT, because I never wander off so much of my 'family-forum'. 😉

yeah, that ah heck has knocked over every server owned by one of the biggest telco's after BT in the UK, their whole email system was down 😱 Lady i bought a fan off sent it to me, that's how i got tipped off
