Finally got fed up with Netscape?s horrible performance and decided to go exclusively with I.E. 5.5. My question is which is easier to use/configure for accessing e-mail Outlook Express or Outlook? What is the difference between the two? TIA.

I've used both Outlook and Outlook Express. Both are fairly simple to configure to access the email. I only used Outlook for a few weeks before going to Express, but the main differences I found are these. Outlook is more of a full contact management program. It has a calendar, to do list, a notes feature that looks like sticky notes on a board. Express is pretty much email only, and a newsreader. Outlook does not have newsreader functions, so if you are going to use that you would either need to use Express or a seperate newsreader program. Hope this helps...:)

I'd stick to outlook express, especially if you don't plan on using the extra features of outlook.

Edit: What version of netscape are you using? I have 4.7 and have been using it for mail for a while now, preformance is a little better then express for the most part

Reply,
Yours truly is tasked with running Exchange Servers, so can tell you a little about Outlook Express and Outlook 2000.

- If you just want a client that sends and receives email, then use Outlook Express.

- If you need a client that can keep address book, contact data, or calender information, then Outlook 2000 is for you. It is far more powerful and versatile in its configuration possibilities.

Most folks that start using Outlook 2000 rarely go back to using Outlook Express, presuming they know how to properly configure Outlook 2000.

Good luck,
PCM

PS - If you want a more technical breakdown, I can post POP3 and MAPI data, etc.
