Welcome to 1993! I'd agree with you then, but post-Athlon AMD has been pretty rock solid stable across the board. They may not have the performance crown, but stability? They're fine...

Intel tends to sip less power, however, but we're talking desktop here so...BUY WHATEVER'S CHEAPER! This is for your grandma, not a video editor..
