Send me a link to prove that we are making quotas. I said BUSH one time and you think this is now a political thread? This is highly relevant to gigapet's decision, because he needs to know that he will be joining at a time where we are in a military shortage at home and abroad. This means that there is a good chance he would be sent abroad, which he needs to take into consideration. On top of this, even if he didn't enlist, he could be drafted because of his age. It's highly relevant to the discussion.Originally posted by: amish

How is the cave you're living in?
"Call-ups of part-time troops from the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve to fill the ranks in Iraq have intensified the bipartisan sentiment that the Pentagon doesn't have enough troops to fight an extended war on terrorism while keeping enough well-rested, well-trained troops ready for an emergency," USA Today reported Dec. 12, 2003. A bill has been introduced in the House to increase the size of the Army.
That was from a year ago, before we sent all of our personnel to Iraq. And if you think people are jumping head over heels to enlist, you're wrong. The prospect of ending up in a desert fighting AQ or insurgents trying to kill you appeals to a very small minority of people. And we aren't going to be leaving Iraq anytime soon if Bush is reelected.
you do realize that the army is still making its recruitment quotas right?
also, don't turn this in to a P&N thread with political bullsh!t in it. if we really wanted to talk about more anti-bush/kerry stuff we'd go to p&n.
Good Lord, you still believe that draft garbage? You do know it was SOUNDLY defeated in Congress, right (by the tune of 402-2 in the House)?
yup...
and the military is still in a constant state of downsizing now...
more base closures coming this year btw...
