Question e-ink display - will it ever be possible for desktop/laptop pc's?

I've really liked using the e-ink display on the kindle paperwhite, but I've never seen this sort of display for a desktop pc or laptop pc. Do you ever think the cost will come down enough for that to be a possibility? I truly like the energy saving aspect of it.

They exist, but they don't appear to be cheap:

e-ink displays have a terrible refresh rate. Your B&W kindle takes about 1/2 a second to update- that's 500ms.
A random 13" colour e-ink display i looked up shows 36 seconds refresh rate. yes, over 1/2 a minute.

Unless your display is refreshing at something like 40ms or less, it's simply no good as a dynamic display: using cursors is nearly impossible, scrolling will be maddening.

Putting aside color gamut (a recent innovation in e-ink, it still can't compare to backlit displays in range) .. price isn't the first problem, the first problem is engineering reasonable refresh rates.

It might be designed for static images. It's like those medical imaging displays that also have poor refresh rates but very high resolution and color accuracy.

^ So we can have vehicles that are even that much more expensive to buy and repair?

IIRC, e-ink suffers irreversible damage from UV (sunlight) too, so probably not what you want on an outdoor vehicle.
