It's been ~7 years since I read anything astronomy.

What is a quark star?

How new is this term?

Is it more dense than a neutron star?
 
SirUlli is way better at finding the relevant articles than I am, but HERE is a short article on "quark stars" that I happen to have bookmarked while here at work. 🙂

I'll look through my bookmarks at home and paste relevant ones into this post later this evening.

The Encyclopedia of Astrobiology, Astronomy, and Spaceflight -- I like reading through this site for the fun of it.. all kinds of interesting stuff. 🙂

Unfortunately, some of my other links no longer work, but I'm sure a search on the term will bring up lots of other hits. I really like the 3rd link by the way. I still go back to it now and then just to read for the pleasure of learning. It's pretty easy to understand.


 
Quark stars, I read about them quite a while back (9th grade I believe) so they have been known about for years.

I am also an avid reader or was of albert einstein's stories.

I robot for example.

Quick question, would it be safe to say that results are off by 2-3 days on returned pending results?

Returned results *can* take weeks to get credited.. it all just depends on how many other systems that data has been passed to that have also completed the work and all agree on the results.

With the project open to the public now, I'd expect probably not more than a few days to a week for most results. 🙂

I've never heard that term before and I'd like to think that I really follow current astronomy very closely. AFAIk E@H looks for pulsars and the possible gravitational wave they might create. If they do and we can measure them --> real proof for Einstein's theories. A Quark star seems to be very odd term, 'cause Quarks are subatomic particles that form atoms (very simplified), so a Quark Star is a contradiction in itself for me. But I'm just a hobby astronomer.

Yeah, besides the pure science of the project, another draw for me was the native support of muti-processors, ie. not having to mess with creating additional directories and such. 🙂

OK, we may be at position 13, but the TAS is crunching for E@H this month. This has already increased production significantly (RAC is up from 11875 [march 30] to 13759 [april 7] and that is good!; daily output of the team has increased from around 12 000 credits/day [march 30, march 31] to around 16800 [april 6, april 7]. And: there is some serious competition going on within TAS: cruchers are added daily, TAS members are moving up the ranks.

So, anyone interested: join the effort, come on and have fun! BTW, isn't fun somtimes spelled as nuf, sorry: nef?

Anybody got a spare cruncher sitting around, put it to use and help TAS help the team. 🙂

It doesn't have to be much, every little bit counts.

We could use a few more crunchers to add to the impact, plus its a fun way to learn the different projects as well as get to know some of your teammates a bit better.

Actually, Isaac Asimov wrote I Robot and the other robot novels among his several hundred novels and short stories. To the best of my knowledge, Albert Einstein did not write Science fiction.

For E@H, I'll be adding my 6 servers/PCs to Team A soon. I'm running as KDL right now, about 282 in team standings now.

well, I have been down and out on my production 🙁 moving into the new home and getting everything set up.

am still trying to find space for the p3 933, 800, and a celly 700

I am working on it though 😀
