Some ebay idiot is sending me an E-check through paypal, even though i clearly state in my auction i don't accept paypal from users who have under 5 feedback. This person's address is unconfirmed too. Should i just deny it in his face or are E-checks 100% safe? I think it's cleared, i just haven't accepted it yet.

Do not ship until the funds have cleared his bank, and they are in your PayPal account, then transfer the funds from your PayPal account to your bank account. THEN you can ship.

Or you can refuse his paypal e-check.

Your choice.

:)

edit: sorry.. misread the last line...

How could it have cleared if you have not yet accepted the payment? I thik that you have to accept first, then it takes like five business days for the check to clear, no?

The closest you're ever going to get to 100% safe is to do business in cash requiring $1's and $5's, but even that's not guaranteed. The farther from that you get, the more risk you're going to take. If you don't feel comfortable taking an e-check, trust your instincts. In future ebay auctions, specify that you'll only accept certain payment options like cashier's or certified check, cash, etc.

I don't have experience with e-checks through paypal, but I do have experience with paypal. My advice is to ask for another form of payment.

accept it, it'll be fine. Will take a few days to clear once you accept however.

I've gotten echecks from PP w/ no problems.

It doesn't say uncleared anymore, doesn't say cleared either, just Unclaimed...so does that mean it's been cleared now or what?

Accept it. If it's waiting for you to claim it, it's cleared.

I use eChecks all the time. As long as you've taken the $$ into your account, it's even better than a credit card since they can't do a chargeback.
