E books.

I'd like to take a lot of books with me where I'm traveling soon, but they weigh too much. Anyone know of either a free or pay site with a good selection of books to download? Mostly interested in sci fi, fantasy and some recent history.

Yup, and once you pick out what you want, you can download it from manybooks.net so it's formatted properly for your device.

For SF & fantasy baen.com has a huge free legal library of books from their authors like David Drake and David Weber.

They also have a paid but DRM-free ebook site where you can buy packages like the first 5-6 of Drake's Lord of the Isles series for $15.
