mount won't net you any extra HP on the dyno

Isn't that what I just said?

No, you said:

"The added power would have to come from somewhere else, huh? I guess there must be something else than having an intake, solid lower motor mount"

Why list the mount as a reason for extra HP on the dyno?

The Cav LS is not the "ultimate sleeper".
My thoughts exactly. A Mercury Marauder is a sleeper. The Caprice-based Chevy Impalla SS was a sleeper. The _original_, non-adorned Pontiac GTO was a sleeper. The older Volvo 760 Turbos were sleepers (little-known fact, a Volvo 760 Turbo wagon could beat a Porsche 944 N/A).

A Cavalier is a sleeper only in the sense that it never wakes up.

ZV

The best sleepers I've seen:

MG Midget w/ small block V8
VW Fastback w/ built GM 3800 V6
VW Beetle w/ RX7 Turbo engine
Nissan Sentra SE-R w/ SR20DET or SR20VE
Audi A6 Avant

IMO, the B13 Sentra SE-R is the best sleeper out there. Totally unassuming, cheap and easy engine swap, great gas mileage, and should last around 200k miles.

*blushes* Makes me glad I just scored an '03 Sentra SER a few days ago. Only 165-175HP stock, but the possibilities are soooo wonderful. I already raced my friends '03 Cavalier. *giggle*

B13 SE-R = 1991 to 1994. You have one of the new ones. Still a _very_ nice car, but it's not the same as an older one with a 2.0 turbo engine.

....

Why not swap that engine into a 240sx and have RWD?

Comparing a dragster to a street car is pretty absurd, imo.

I'd say 12s is a pretty worthwhile goal for most street cars.

12 is more than respectable in a street car, build to much and you end up with a trailer queen

Added power isn't always horsepower. There's also torque. That and I know now that the lower mount is actually doing its job considering I ran .055 seconds slower this year with a 2.385 60 foot time compared to a 2.228. You do the math on that.

word. if you go any faster than a 12 second car, it usually isn't even close to streetable... maybe drive it once a month, and that's worrying all the time about getting in trouble for it... you don't really realize how fast a 12 second car is until you've been in one.... a 12 second car is SICK. I've been in a couple mid 12s, low 13s cars.... and they're FAST. hell, some of them'd be faster if they got more traction and less spinning in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd gear... and that guy was running 285's in the back!!

I had mentioned this and even a car in the 14's is nice on the street....I got flamed saying there are tons of cars that can beat that.

Because the Sentra and 240SX have different engine configurations.

But also because we're talking sleepers here. The S14 240SX is not a sleeper, as it looks fast.
