Are they capable of programming a decent game??

Did they graduate from the Microsoft school of programming??

What did Tribes 1 end up with in the way of patches? 11? 12? and the OGL still didn't work correctly.

Now, here we are with Tribes 2. Installed it this weekend at a LAN party and tried to install the patch (SURPRISE!! There's a patch), and the patch installer said it couldn't install the patch because some file was changed. I uninstalled/reinstalled 3-4 times with the same result. I ended up haveing to copy a patched version from another computer.

I get to start it and what do I find??? Still poor OGL programming. My ghz machine can't run it smoothly at 1024x768 and when I try to switch to D3D what does it do? Crash.

Damn! What a crappy company! :p

If you read the note at the beginning, it says there is a bug in the installer program and you have to update the updater (heh) manually via the web if you're using certain configurations. Then the updates work normally.

I can't speak for your troubles in installing the patch, however most games require patches these days. Of course Id likes to call them Point Releases :)

I wouldn't blame the programmers just yet I think that marketing my have something about the release also. Gotta make that buck then worry about the game.

Yeah, bad marketing and bad programming are an evil combination. The companies announce a game will be ready in 1 year (at the time an impossible goal), and then people get surprised 1.5 yrs later, so the developers finish it up quickly so that they don't seem slow, and of cource they don't bother fixing up any of the bugs. Besides, beta testing takes time (limited testing group size), releasing a buggy product is faster because the testing group is an unlimited size and has varied machine specs.

Dynamix made the best game ever, there is no debating it. I don't care how buggy you say tribes 2 is, Willy Bemish makes up for any of Dynamix's failures.

There is NO debating it? lol... hehe...
I never liked Tribes much... and T2 is much the same. Just too 'involved' a game for my tastes.. CS and UT/Q3 CTF are as involved games as my attention span will allow.

Perhaps if I knew what 'Willy Bemish' was I might try... though trying to prove an opinion seems about as useful as repeatedly smashing my skull against a brickwall. :)
