www.no-ip.com

Anyone ever used a service like this? I would to be able to set something like this on my home computer, but I am unsure if it won't cause me more problems than it is worth. Looking for someone with experience to fill me in on the bad and good side to it.

After I registered one for my computer, I started receiving bots trying dictionary attacks via SSH. You may want to harden your defenses before doing such a thing.

As for benefits, it sure beats having to remember an IP address that could change at any moment...

I have a No-IP.com account as well, and it has helped a WHOLE lot over the past couple of years. My cable connection has a "pseudo-static" IP (changes on a rare occasion), so it's nice to have an easy-to-remember domain name that always points to my IP.
