Now that the GeforceFX has turned out to be such a disappointment (in my opinion), Nvida fans are holding on to the last thread of hope they've got, that the NV30 will perform in accordance to it's extreme specs and widen the gap between itself & the 9700Pro. How probable is this, speculate a little by polling and give your reasons.

LAFF !!!

This thread is MIS-LABELED

nothing about DX9 or 3dMark2003

Fix your thread header to say ... "Do you think Nvidias next chip will match the 9700pro?"

heh :)

Come on now Noid, let's not be hard on Nvidia! By the time you'll be talking about Nvidia's next chip, you won't be comparing it to the 9700 Pro! Considering that the FX was months late, Nvidia's next chip will probably coincide with the ATI's R400 or R450! So lets be kind and compare it what we have here and now, the FX and the R300.

he means out on the market, so the fx is the next chip not the current one. his point about the topic and the thread being unrelated still stands.

I was disappointment with ths thread... the thread should be renamed to "Do you think Nvidias next chip will match the 9700pro?"
anyways

I think with time and new drivers the GeforceFX will have roughly the same score as the ATI but i will be picking up 9700pro for my next video card...i was waiting for the GeforceFX but not any more...
i would as so like to see what ATI have for there next video card...

The topic is correct guys, he is referring to DX9 cards (ie, R300 & FX), and 3DMark 03.

I think 3DMark is sh!t and always will be....but I think the FX will do slightly better in the next version.

it depends on whether it will use AA/AF. my guess is that it will not, so the gffx should win very slightly if at all.

This is such speculation that I don't think it requires a response. I don't mean to offend, but I for one can't offer an answer without totally reaching and pulling something out of my @$$, which I try to do as little as possible ;).

We have no idea of the actual performance difference between nVidia's DX9 engine and ATI's (we know theory, that's it), and we have no idea what 3dmark 2k3 will test (if/when it does come out, if/when that is it's name). For example: will 3dmark 2k3 punish ATI for allowing much fewer repetitions in the DX9 engine per clock compared to the GeForce FX? Will it focus on driver performance and punish nVidia? There are too many variables to comment on without just making something up off the top of my head.
