dx9.0b and nforce2 IGP problem?

Hi all! :) Just rebuilt my room's computer (changed a few parts here and there), and there seem to be a conflict between the nforce2 IGP (GF4MX 440) and dx9.0b. I can run openGL stuff, but anything directx, no go. Just simply crashes. I've tried various drivers (nforce2 and display drivers), and directx should be installed properly. I took my GF4 Ti4400 from my gaming computer and put it into my room's computer, and voila, directx apps run fine. Take out the GF4 Ti4400 and use the nforce2 IGP, and directx apps stop working.

From memory, it worked fine with dx8.1 months ago, and dx9.0 as well (not 100% sure with dx9.0 though), so I'm guessing there's something not right with the pairing of the nforce2 IGP and dx9.0b. Anyone here knows what's going on here?

Here are the gist of my room's computer's specs (note: not my main gaming rig, don't criticise it in that light please :) ) ...
2500+ Barton w/ Thermalright SLK-947U
Epox EP-8RGA+ motherboard
2x512MB Samsung PC2700 RAM
120GB Seagate 7200.7 HDD
Antec Sonata case

I think I may have fixed the problem by running liveupdate on Norton Security. You see, my room's computer isn't connected to the internet, so all I usually did was just download new virus definitions from my gaming computer (which is connected to the net), burn them on a cd, and then install them on my room's computer. I found it a bit odd when the directx apps seem to work fine when I disable norton antivirus. I remembered that there was a security flaw in directx 9.0 and 9.0a, so I moved my room's computer outside and connected it to the net to run liveupdate, and all seems to be going well at the moment.

Kinda a bit odd.
