DX11 gone from Windows 7

The implication in the article is that intel complained that requiring DX11 would make their crappy integrated cards useless for Windows 7. I thought they were already worthless. I'm surprised such a high end company like intel has gotten away with making such crappy integrated video for so long.

....what I don't understand is why DX11 is required for an OS. What about a simple core, a GUI that works on the most basic machine and then depending on which version you buy or what hardware you have you get the extra eyecandy.

There's $$$ in licensing.

isn't subsequent releases of an API supposed to improve upon implementation efficiency. If MS let Nvidia and other GPU expert groups write the implentention specs, this definitely wouldn't have happened. Too bad there's no equivalent to JEDEC for the GPU companies.

Whaaa? Theres a Direct X 11? DirectX 10 isn't even fully supported by most games (and a large amount of graphics cards) Why on earth would you make yet another API? Don't get me wrong, I like fast development, but this is like crazy fast. Was there going to be some major advancement in DirectX 11?

directx 11 is supposed to bring physics calculations on the GPU through a standard ATI that all companies will have to adhere to. So it actually seems like a good thing.
On the other hand, if DX11 is delayed that then means that the nvidia-aegia merger has more time to bear fruit, with nvidia placing its own physics engine in practically every computer (due to amd's lameness).
Havok is probably set to die in intels clutches though.

reading the article though, i don't see DX11 as being gone so much as NOT MANDATORY...
Thats a good thing, that means that the core OS will not require it to run, that is, it will have a lighter interface. DX11 as a separate install sounds spiffy, as it means that the OS will be lighter.

That or maybe it is being delayed due to taking longer to make...

Heck its inquirer, for all we know its a load of balony.
