I just did a fresh install of Windows 98SE and did all the updates including DX 8.0a. I installed the new drivers from the PowerVR website and everytime I play Everquest (Mostly) or any other DX game, when there is motion the texture shift and move. It gets a bit annoying. Is their some sort of fix for this or is it just what happens. I noticed that when I had a Radeon it did that same thing in Giants but not to the extent this is doing it.

What sort of shift and move? Z type rendering errors or like a bunch of bilinear filtered type "lines" all over(although without the same level of contrast as normal)?

If it is the first type, try enabling External Depth Buffer in the 3D optimisation panel.

If it is the second disable either TC or forced trilinear(or both) and it should be sorted.

This your first time testing a Kyro2 IBMer(as in really testing it not just quick hands on time)?

The shift and move is not really a Z Error the Z buffering is perfectly fine I think. What is happening is the textures are shifting around inside the polygon. I haven't tried to enable a external depth buffer which I will try tonight (at work now).

This was after trying DX games all day and seeing the same thing. And yes this is my first time messing around with this card. I have no problems with it in OpenGL though. I also has Anisotropic Filtering Forced because everquest is limited to Bilinear.

I would try enabling external depth and see if that fixes it, I have been a bit surprised as to how many issues it has cleared up in games for me(impacts performance but Evercrack isn't that straining on the vid card so you should be all set).

Anisotropic absolutely kills performance on this board. I'm seeing a performance hit between 2x and 4x FSAA in terms of percentage(~60%). Enabling 2X FSAA without ani is faster then no AA and anisotropic enabled. You can try disabling ani, forcing texture compress and forcing trilinear(it doesn't actually run trilinear but a box filter). If that produces acceptable image quality for you I would reccomend using it, unfortunately it does produce some side effects but if you don't notice them then that is likely your best bet. TC isn't lossless, but bilinear really svcks;)

The only other problem I have had with it is when I first installed it everything came up green and corrupted. Found out later that is was because I had my bios set to UC instead of USWC or whatever that acronymn is. Other than that, I have been very pleased and it seems to run Everquest a lot faster than the GTS even with AA on and Anisotropic Filtering. But I think that is just because it doesn't have any TnL built in and is a rather old game.
