Hi,

I have a problem. I installed a D-Link DWL-G520 Wireless PCI card in my girlfriend's computer and since she's having a 70-90% CPU load all the time. When I disable the network connexion, everything is fine.

I tried changing drivers but the drivers on the official D-Link page simply does not work. The plain don't work. The card is recognized and installed but it can't find any network to connect to. So I'm back with the driver on the CD.

I tried moving the computer around a bit. It seems that the better the reception, the lesser the load. But it's not always the case. Sometime, Windows report "Good" signal and the load is 30-50% and sometime it reports "Excellent" signal and the load is 70-90%... No good.

What I haven't tried yet, is moving the cards in the PCI slots. She has a Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1 in the slot up of the Wireless card.

Her PC is :

Asus P4S533
P4 Willamette 1.8ghz
512mo RAM
Windows XP Pro

THE FACT IS I have no problem at all with the same model in my PC. Everything is smooth, fine and dandy! I use the exact same drivers. I use Windows XP Pro. I am not very much nearer of the access point that she does... My computer is an MSI Neo4 Platinum, Athlon64 3500+ and 1go RAM.

Any ideas? It would greatly help!

Thanks!

I have the same problem with in my pc, along with random lockups in which I can't do anything and have to power off the pc by holding in the power button. I have tried the drivers on the cd, those on the website, and also every one of the pci slots. same problem. I am returning it tomorrow. Good Luck!

I have a D-Link DWL-G630 in a PII-300 laptop that had the same symptoms you are describing. I removed the D-Link related entries from the Startup folder and the problems went away. You may also need to switch to Windows XP's wireless network configuration utility when you do this.
