I'm having a debate with a co-worker. Which is better for a DVR windows or linux?

hey necine...
for someone with as much competence as yourself and I, linux/unix based systems would be the better option. to think anything else is blasphemy! I mean, come on now... who would want to have to restart their dvr in the middle of the show?

I had lots of sync issues when running in windows (although the card did not have hardware encoding). I switched to linux and even on a celeron 533, I was able to record shows stright to divx/xvid and only use about 20% of the cpu. I think mythtv is better than all the windows pvr solutions I've seen. Currently I'm using webvcr+ because it's simple and does what I want/need and I can easily tweak it since it's written in php/mysql.

I just got a MythTV box going on Saturday after a week of it hating me. I'd go the Linux route again, no question.
