DVI works with Apple Cinema Display?

I just read Anand's article on DVI. During it, he stated that he tested several Geforce cards with an Apple Cinema Display. Now, I know standard 15-pin VGA won't work with a Cinema Display but what about DVI? Would that work? It'd be sweet if I could use a 22" Cinema Display without having to use a Mac.

IIRC, the Apple Cinema display uses an Apple extension of DVI (Apple Display Connector) that allows USB to be passed through so monitors can be used as USB hubs.

You can buy an adapter to convert DVI to ADC without the USB.

IMHO, Apple monitors are some of the most beautiful monitors I've ever seen.

Ya, so I've heard. Although I'm not sure about their pixel response times, I know their image quality is crisp and clear.

There's an adaptor for DVI to Apple's proprietary plug, it's under $100.

The Apple 22" Cinema display is the absolute worst one you can buy around that size:

180nits brightness, when most even cheap current generation LCD's are at 200nits or brighter, with some approaching 300nits.
300:1 contrast is near the bottom of the current generation. The Viewsonic VG191 is 500:1.
For it's huge size, it only uses 4 CCFL backlights. That's why the brightness is so uneven on these compared to other LCD's. Only 15" LCD's use 4 CCFL's these days. Larger ones need more, so most use 6 or even 12.

They're too embarrassed to publish their response time, but it's easy to discover. They buy the panel off of Lucky Goldstar:

Lucky Goldstar Electronics LM285A

It's a pathetic 60ms. If you want to use this poorly performing panel, you might as well buy the Lucky Goldstar one. It comes with VGA, DVI, S-Video, and Composite inputs already, and costs about the same.
