I have a NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE chipset w/ integrated graphics with up to 128 MB of shared video memory.
I just bought an Acer LCD 5ms, WSXGA+ 1680x1050, DVI, VGA, VESA 100mm monitor, and was wondering if certain DVI video cards wont work/ will work better in my machine. I'm not a gamer, and I know my board isn't the best in the world.

What is the criteria I should be looking for in video card specs so I know it will work in my machine? Are there limitations based on other components in my computer that will only allow me to upgrade to a certain extent?

Thanks!

If you are not a gamer and just need a DVI for the new monitor, consider a Radeon HD3450 (can be had for $40 on newegg.com). This card will offload some video work giving you smooth playback of HD/BluRay discs if that's important. I saw one passively cooled model for around $60 if noise is an issue.

If the video playback is not an issue, just about any DVI video card will work, just find something cheap and go for it.

One thing--I am assuming you have a PCI-E slot on your motherboard.
