I have a video card that has vga and dvi connectors. I have an extra CRT monitor and would like to use for a dual setup.

A while ago I had tried using an older monitor with a borrowed DVI-VGA connector. I dont know if it was the monitor or the connector that was the problem, but the picture quality wasnt good at all once the PC had booted into windows.

So I was wondering if there was anyone on here who has tried this setup and if it is worth me going and pick up one of these connectors to use with the card.

BTW the card is a 128 MB Ti 200.

Thanks in advance.

It isn't the converters that mess up the analog signal from the DVI-I. It's the card designers that didn't bother design for a nice clean analog signal there. Older NVidia cards are particularly notorious for this. Good luck.

I know my friend's 9700aiw card worked fine with one of these converters. He had the one that ati sells right off their site FYI.

I just ordered the converter that MSI makes for DVI to VGA, since they made the card it might work a little better.

Hopefully it does! if not I am out on $7.

Thanks guys.

Also does anyone still make dual output AGP/PCI cards (does not have to be high-end gaming capable)....just for office, watching moving capability?

Yes of course ... practically all Radeon cards are dual-output (one VGA, one DVI-I), even the PCI ones. Matrox even make triple- and quad-output cards.

The only thing that Maxtor makes good these days is multi-monitor cards. Its kinda sad for a company with such a history.. :/
I wonder who would buy a Parehlia...

Maxtor makes hard drives, not video cards. :p

They had their time to shine with the G400MAX, but wisely chose to cater to the lucrative workstation market. :)

Looking for a cheap dual VGA....guess I will have to look around, but any suggestions would be appreciated

Didn't we just go over this? Stick a $5 DVI-I->VGA adapter on the DVI out and you have a "dual VGA" card. The only native dual-VGA card I know of that's currently on the market is the RADEON 9600 AIW.

I use monitors on DVI->VGA adapters all the time and none shows problems.

If you have a bad picture, check the cable first.
