Yeah, s-video will look like crap.

The only thing that I can think of as a problem running 720p to the VGA input is if the projector only supports certain resolutions over VGA and certain resolutions when it's in "component" mode.

Yeah, a lot of games support widescreen, and there are widescreen gaming sites and forums to help you enable widescreen resolutions for some games. Google it.

I guess I'll have to play around with it and see....I think it'll run any resolution I feed into it as it simply scales down everything to its native 480p (I think that's it...could be wrong) Before you say "oh that's crap"...every HDTV 1080i/720p input I've displayed on it looks crisp and awesome, so I could care less that it is scaling it down, as it does a damn good job :p

Boy am i glad I bought that 100ft VGA cable last summer....:p

S-video will look like crap, nothing wrong with 480p from component or VGA.

Component input to a 4805 :D

Damn dude, those are 480p?

When I set my computer to output to that resolution, everything is so pixelated...graphics don't look as fine as they should...am I doing something wrong? :p

Yeah, those are 480p.

The CS:S shots are a 720p signal from the computer scaled back down to 480p by the projector.

Without seeing what you're describing, I don't know if anything is wrong :p

EDIT: some native 720p here

*sigh* still not sure why outputting 720p isint working right....the projector specifically says it can accept up to 1080i and it'll scale it down itself.

When i run CS: Source in 720p...it looks fantastic, but the bottom and left are cut off so much that you cant even see the HUD, which sucks.

Does powerstrip override all other settings, as well as ingame ones? Meaning, if I set the screen boundries with Power Strip, would games that set the resolution follow them as well?

I actually never had to mess with powerstrip enough to need to do that so I'm not sure.

Sounds like quite a bit is being cut off the sides. Are you sure you have everything set on the correct aspect ratio?

Before when you said it was just like the "S" from Start going off the side, it really sounded like overscan.

How much of the HUD is gone? pics?

You cannot see any of the HUD.

And yes, when I ran the desktop at 1280x720, it cut off the S of the start menu (in terms of the left side of the image)...but when I run a game in steam, it cuts off the bottom totally....but it surprisingly looks quite good. I'm really at a loss for what to do now.....=/

Would I be best off buying a new video card that supports component (Hidef) out? Do they make any that ar AGP these days?

<----lost

I hate to see you throw more money at it to try to fix it.

Maybe the HTPC area of AVSforum would be a good place to ask these new questions.

Haha yeah, I've been browsing their forums, and see people asking the same questions as me with that projector. Seems like its a general consensus that people hate the projector I have in terms of connecting it to a computer :p

I emailed BFG with a few quesitons about my video card, and didnt get a very helpful response:

This card supports S-video, not component. Also, it will support HD equivalent
resolutions but not necessarily HD in terms of 480p, 720p, 1080i. It sounds
like you may want to look at the 7600GS OC 512MB AGP.

*rollseyes* :p

*sigh* Oh well, guess I'll have to run it at lower resolutions and just deal with it. Oh what i'd give to run 720p off my Media Center onto the projector....it'd look oh so sweet!

Start saving up for a 720p projector with some good connectivity I guess ;)
