DVI or VGA?

I have a standard CRT Monitor and was wondering if I ran it through the DVI port with an adapter would I get a better picture than VGA? I tried it and didn't seem to notice anything right away so I was wondering exactly what difference if any the DVI port will give me over the VGA.

19" Viewsonic PF790 and a Radeon 9700Pro

As far as I know CRT's dont really take advantage of DVI outputs since the converter basicly changes it back into a VGA signal for the monitor... not positive though but i dont think you will any difference in performance

well, I know it won't get a digital signal, but I read somewhere on some message board that using the DVI port gives better color saturation and a better overall sharper picture. I can't see any of that which is why I asked.

Anyone else?

Actually, they convert nothing. A DVI-I port simply contains analog pins in addition the the digital pins, the DVI>VGA dongle simply uses the analog pins...the signals are the same.

RBv5 is correct DVI-I simply uses some pins as the analog connection. In fact when you add the pin converter the signal may degrade more than running straight VGA. Anytime you add anything to the video line you risk degrading the signal.
