DVI not working?

i just hooked up my LCD to my computer but i can't get the DVI connection to work.
The regular VGA works, but when i switch to DVI (both in the display properties and on the LCD itself), the screen just goes blank.

When i hook both connections up at the same time (VGA and DVI), the display properties shows both monitors as connected. However, if i switch the inputs on the monitor between the two, the DVI input just shows a blank screen and goes into power save mode.

Any ideas?

Are both display and vidcard connectors DVI-D?

the cable that came with the LCD is DVI-D. I assume that the vid card supports both DVI-A and DVD-D
