Connecting PC to TV. Graphic card has DVI-I port.

I connect a DVI-I to component cable to the y/pr/pb component-in to the TV. DVI-I carry analogue signal. Doesn't work.

So i use a DVI-I to VGA adapter to make it all analogue. I then use a VGA cable to y/pr/pb component-in cable. Doesn't work.

I tried 2 different graphics cards and not working.

The only way i got it to work is with a 9500GT with HDT-out with 7 pin svhs to component cable

Why doesn't the DVI-I and VGA work to y/pr/pb it's analogue.

Stolen from an Amazon review:

"If your source device (video card, DVD player, etc) supports sending either RGB or YPbPr out the D-Sub (aka VGA port) then this cable will work once the source is set correctly."

Basically your video card can't output RGB/YPbPr over the DVI-I port (I'm not even sure that's possible)

DVI-I carries both digital and analogue so as that didn't work I use VGA adapter that converts DVI-I to all analogue which is sent to YPbPr analogue. The TV has no HDMI or VGA connections only component and scart.

A analogue signal to a analogue signal.

Right it can't be done. You obviously need a dedicated converter box.

I have a 9500GT card with HDTV out which is s-video 7 pin. It must send a certain type of y/pr/pb analogue signal. I upgrading the graphics card which hasn't HDTV out but needed to work with TV.

So the solution looks to be. to get rid of TV and use a monitor.

Not exactly. Analog vga is not the same as analog component. That's the reason the cable doesn't work.

Yes, the only way is out from s-video YPbPr to component in which is only available on older cards.

Well, it can be done, but you need a converter box like this one to do it (and they are typically not very cheap, but you might find better price than the one I am linking):

http://www.lindy-usa.com/dvi-d-to-vga-rgb-component-video-converter-32562.html

That said, it is not HDCP compliant, so might fail on something that needs it. I don't own that particular device (just was the first I found on google).
