DVI Cables: 18 pin vs. 24/25 pin

Some DVI connectors have 18 pins loaded and some have 24 or 25 pins loaded.

Anyone know the difference?

Also wondering if the 18 pin will work with a Dell Ultrasharp LCD.

yeah that will work

i think the 24 or 25 pins are HDMI, not DVI

edit: edit oops

checked DVI on my card, it is 24-pin
never heard of 18pin, VGA is 15 pin

I have never seen an 18-pin DVI cable, they all have 3 rows of 8 pins for the digital signal from what I have seen.
