Not sure you could actually tell the difference on a movie that was shrinked so little. At least DVD Shrink gives you some choices in regard to what you want to keep or not. DVD2One is definitely faster and easier for most folks.

Just tried DVDshrink. Once the program has created the converted backed on my hard disk, isn't there any way to burn a second backup DVD without reanalyzing the data. I tried 'backup' again with 'no compression'. Still created yet another temp directory, and spent several minutes analyzing and transfering over the data before burning. I assume the answer is to use a different program to burn the already created backup files, but I thought it would be simpler to let the DVDshrink burn both backup disks. 😛

After the first copy, it will make a copy of the files on your hard drive. All you need is Nero or some other DVD Recording program that can do DVD-Video files. Drag the video files into the Video_TS folder and burn away.

lol, i got confused with dvdshrink and dvd decrypter today. i was thinking.... this doesnt look like the software i used last time.

Just have it output the results as ISO then you can burn as many copies as you like with dvd decrypter using the iso write mode.

Doesn't DVD Shrink do it all ?

If so, what's the purpose of DVD Decrypter ?

Do you really need both programs to make backup copies of your movies ?

The older version seemed to link both programs together when .iso was selected and it launched Decrypter automatically. The new version doesn't seem to do that or am I missing something ?

Why would someone choose .ISO ?

I'm confused.

I've had a couple of DVD's that DVDShrink couldn't process due to some copy protectiong that DVDDecryptor was able to handle (this was a few months back)

Other than that, I use DVDShrink exclusively.

dvddecrypter is good to burn the iso automatically. The option to auto launch it is still there just choose it as your target device "ISO Image File and burn with DVD Decrypter". Also this 3.2 version supports FAT32 which splits the .iso into 1GB chunks and dvdecrypter can burn that too.

Another reason to have dvddecrypter is people report all the time that dvdshrink errors while processing, then they try it again with dvddecrypter and see all these errors and in the end the disk is scratched. If you wash it under the sink with water and wipe in (inner to outter in a non-cirular motion) and it still errors your dvd disc is hosed, thus highlighting how important it is to make a backup as soon as you buy your dvd from walmart.

I would like to convert a Multi-Region PAL DVD to NTSC. Is there an easy way to do this ?

I've searched mega forums and my head is spinning.

For the people using the AEC algorithms options...what setting are you using? I tried my first burn today with AEC enabled, and I left it at the default Sharp setting. I then viewed the movie and it did appear to have a very good picture and I noticed no loss of smoothness. Is anybody using the Smooth or Smoothest settings, and can you detect any loss of sharpness? And by that same token, is anyone using the Sharpest setting and can you detect a loss of smoothness in the video?

Eh? Anyone have any comments on the AEC options?

i just used the recommended settings... it just takes awfully long with compression of less than 75%... didn't notice much real difference.
