Personally I'm still waiting for:

Schindler's List

The Shawshank Redemption: SE (maybe one day, we can hope)

Goodfellas (a non-flipper version)

V: The Final Battle (this is in the works, it's just a matter of time)

D.A.R.Y.L. (oldie but goodie! :) )

So are there any DVDs you guys are waiting on? Besides the obvious Star Wars, Back to the Future or Indy of course! :D

For all you BTTF fans, just thought I'd mention that they are in the works and we should be getting them by Q4 2002.

Here is a pic of the set from DVD Industry Magazine.

A lot of Kubrick's stuff was filmed in a 1.33:1 aspect ratio. Anything he did in widescreen is already out there in widescreen.

Maybe it's just me, but what's wrong with the current release? It's a above average transfer and doesn't bother me at all. Can't see how any documentaries would make it more interesting either...there's not much interesting stuff to the making of the movie like that. The only redeeming quality I could think of would be some commentaries (which I rarely even bother listening to).

The commentary is pretty much the only extra I want. I don't really watch the documentaries that much either. What gets me is that the original release was supposed to have a commentary with Tim Robbins & Morgan Freeman but it was nixed at the last minute for undisclosed reasons.

I do agree that the current version is very good as far video & audio, I just wish that commentary had been on there.

Oh well I guess I'll probably pick it up next time I'm at Wal-Mart, it's only $10 there I believe.

BTW - Shouldn't you be studying?! :p ;)

Indeed. Add the Star Wars trilogy to that list too for me.

I've heard from various places that they axed it because Freeman bashed the film and the filmmaking process.

If that's the case then I suppose there is no reason to wait because there never will be a SE with a commentary. :(

More reason to go ahead and buy the DVD now.

Up until very recently it was M*A*S*H (the movie, not the series), but that finally came out in a nice 2 disc set in February. Catch-22 has (amazingly) been out on DVD for a long time, so that's not a wish list item either. I'd like to be able to get Bogart's African Queen on DVD. More older movies need to be brought up onto DVD. I agree about the Indiana Jones series and Grease too. LOTR is out, but I really wish they'd release that 5 hour dream cut too.
