DVD's look crappy on computer

I've tried playing DVD movies on my computer, with Windows Media Player and nVDVD, but the colors and resolution is off (looks horrible). It's performance really suffers too. Is there another program I should try, or is there something else I can try?

Uhm...nvDVD should look great - there is something strange going on. You've got a fast CPU and plenty of memory...maybe your DVD drive is on the fritz.

Drivers? Latest software update? DVD Firmware?

I use PowerDVD so I won't be of much help.

Have you tried to use dvd shrink and play the dvd from the hard drive?

DVD on your computer monitor should look as good as it does on a TV. I recall using WinDVD & the ATI DVD player back in 1998 on a Celery 464 w/ 256MB ram and a Geforce. It was smooth and film-like.

Try new 81.95 ForceWare drivers. Maybe download the free trial of PowerDVD 6 to test a different software player.
