DVDs: are the DVD bonuses very interesting?

I seen a few DVDs yeah. Most popular additions is like:

deleted scenes (may or may not be because they were simply crap)
special effects documentary (a snore personally...)
HBO first look and Trailers (interesting, every actor is "Amazing" etc hee hee)
commentary (hmm not decided whether it's just whittering filler yet)

does that extra stuff copy properly, rippers?

So far I only remember watching the "bonus" material off of two DVD's. I found the making of the Matrix info interesting. Also, the dialog between some of the actors and directors in American Pie was pretty funny and enjoyable. I heard the bonus dialog on "Gladiator" was pathetic. Stuff like "yeah there is a bush we planted" and " umm what was her name... it was ummm". I'll know when I get it for sure though. That is only hearsay.

No ripping by me yet (my wife may contest ;-). Can't help ya there.

On some movies the commentary track is great. On the Austin Powers (1 or 2, I forget), the comments by Mike Myers and Jay Roach are almost funnier than the movie. Some of the making of featurettes are cool. Most of the stuff they put on the discs is crap though!

Usually some of it is cool, although i've never seen any of the extras ripped if you're talking about ripping ot divx

I just watched all the bonus material on "The Patriot" today. Well worth it. The deleted scenes were to keep the movie under 3 hours. Truly good scenes!

I remember an interview with James Cameron talking about editing Titanic down to 3 hours (The rough cut was something like 4 hours). They would cut out a short scene (less than a minute), and someone would comment... "well, there goes another million dollars!" (referring to the expense put into some of the shots/effects). While Titanic is by all means NOT the best movie of all time, I would love to see a 'Director's Cut' with and extra hour worth of footage.

I was watching Austin Powers the other day. I didn't think the commentary was that funny. At least they didn't go every actor was "amazing" (director did this in Girl, Interrupted and it sounds so stoooopid or fake).
Girl interrupted contains some important scenes that were deleted which gave the more honest impression to the viewer of the real life story.
I think putting the extra scenes on a Titanic DVD would give it a new lease of life actually. They should give you the possibility of programming in the extra scenes.

The bonus CD for Fight Club is amazingly funny. Especially the alternate scenes.

The extras on Army of Darkness were pretty cool too, including the original ending.
