dvd's across 2 monitors?

Is there a way to play a movie across both monitors? I mean I know there's a bar in the middle, but can it be done? If I stretch a window across both screens the video only renders to one monitor and the other is just blank.

Right now I'm running an ancient Matrox g550. I am going to be upgrading to a parhelia in the near future though.
