The biggest problem seems to be that it overheats between 30 min-1:30 min of recording. Someone posted that they opened it up and attached heat syncs and that solved the problem, but it also voided the warranty. Looks like a nice product despite the shortcomings, but I think I'll pass...

I have been wanting to transfer VHS movies to DVD recently so picked this up last night. I haven't had much time to play with it, but my first impressions are good.

I did my testing on my wife's 20 minute pilates workout video.

Setup is a snap. (It is, after all, USB.) You must use the bundled capture program; I couldn't get Pinnacle Studio to capture from this device.

I don't have USB 2.0, so was only able to capture at 4Mbps through a USB 1.1 port. I then used TMPGenc DVD Author to burn a DVD.

The resulting video looks at least as good as the source material. (The source tape was in bad shape, however. My wife has done this workout a lot.)

I haven't done any two-hour captures yet, but at a $50 price point, so far I'm pleased with this product.
