dvd writer wont read cd's anymore

has anyone ever seen this before? my dvd burner wont burn or read cd's but dvd's play & burn fine. i cant seem to figure it out.

That's not good.

Probably easier and cheaper to replace it than repair it. I recommend a Plextor or a Lite-on(budget choice) for your next one. 😉

 
nope, no copy protected dvd games. i just sold my tdk cd burner so this is real annoying. it doesnt even recognize a cd is in the drive.

Well, I have the exact opposite problem. My Sony DVD burner doesn't read or write DVDs, but can read and write cd's just fine. 😕 I tried running a linux boot cd to see if it could read dvd's in linux, but that didn't work.
