DVD writer problem

hi,
I just bougt a dvd writer so I pluged in the power cable en the data cable and if I starded the pc it finds a new writer.So I try to read a disk and it works but when I put in an empty DVD to put stuff on and I stick files in it he gives me an eror.... anyone know what I can do aganst it cus I wanne burn 😛

To be clear - are you just putting in the blank disc and trying to drag files to it like a floppy?
