DVD to play as an Audio CD?

I want to make a playlist of songs on a CD but the CD only holds 80 minutes. Can I use a DVD and still be able to play it in most CD players including my car?

Something other than a CD would be needed, along with a player that can handle it. 80 minutes is just about as much as you'll be able to get on a CD, without some serious overburning. You can try overburning the disc to cram more onto it, but not all players may be able to read it, and there could be some data loss on the outer tracks.

Other options: Get a player that can support alternate media types, such as MP3-CDs, or else read MP3s off of USB devices. Then you can just load up a cheap flash drive with music and use that.
Or if your player has a 3.5mm aux input, you could use an external MP3 player to feed in music.

Your car might be able to play .mp3 format. If so, then you can fit more music on a disc.
