DVD to DIVX

Hey Guys.

I have a DVD disc that I want to burn into the DIVX format. I have found sites that burn it into the DIVX ;-) format. I understand that this works on Windows Media Player. Would this format also work on regular DVD consoles, like you know your regular DVD home theatre players.

I don't think so. MPEG1 or MPEG2 VideoCDs would, though.

Just use an MPEG1/2 encoder instead of MPEG4. Try FlaskMPEG (which hasn't been very stable for me 😛), or TMPGenc.

I heard a company is designing a stand alone DivX player. I have to go hunt that info down again, but I bet in a year, there will be a DVD player that does support DivX as well as VCD.
