DVD skips frames

I have a rather weird problem. Whenever I try to play a DVD movie, like Xmen or The Matrix, on my system I notice a slight performance drop as the movie gets a little choppy (one or two frames a sec is dropped). Has anyone ever heard of this before?

512mb DDR samsung
40mb matrox HD
20mb matrox HD
geforce ti4200 video
DVD (can't remember the manufacturer)
logitech 640 speakers
 
Try selecting/unselecting the hardware acceleration choices in the DVD software panel. Also, make sure you have DMA selected for your DVD player in your Device Manager.
