I was just wondering if DVD+-RW always work oppose to DVD-R? Is there something about DVD+-RW that makes them a guarantee burn?

I've got a Pionner DVR-A09XL - all firmware upadated.

I had a 25pck of DVD+-RW and everyone worked great.
I just used a 25pck of DVD-R and 10 DVDs didn't work.

Both are Memorex. I thought that since the DVD+-RW worked like a charm that the DVD-R would also.

If I do go memorex again I'd probably get some DVD+-RW because I know that they will work... or maybe I just got lucky 25 times ?

In my experience it's the other way around. It all depends on the media. I've had problems with Memorex myself.

The problem is that the brand name means nothing - Memorex and all the others buy their media from some other company and they change suppliers all the time to keep the prices down.

Taiyo Yuden is universally considered one of the best primary suppliers of CD and DVD media. I got rather frustrated with inconsistent quality even with brand names and started buying Taiyo Yudens direct from Rima.com.

Here's an article about Taiyo Yuden and why people in the know like them: http://www.wired.com/news/digiwood/0,1412,66911-2,00.html?tw=wn_story_page_next1
