DVD-ROM Troubles

Hey. I'm having a little trouble with my DVD-Rom. The computer detects that it is there, but when I put a DVD or a CD in the drive it doesn't think there is any disc inserted. I have one HDD set up on the main IDE cable, and then the DVD-ROM and CD-RW on the secondary cable, with the DVD on the end port, and the CD-RW on the middle one. The CD-RW works fine. I checked the jumper pins on the DVD-ROM, and it is set to master as far as I know. I'm hoping you guys know what could be the problem, but (i think) the DVD drive worked before I upgraded mobo and CPU. It's not a huge deal though, as I will prolly get a $100 dollar DVD-RW in the not too distant future. Anyway, any help would be awesome, thanks.

Check that the jumpers on the CD and DVD are set to slave and master (in that order). I don't know, it might be that your DVD's lens are dirty.
Also, try the DVD only (no CD-RW drive) to check if it's working. Anyway, I'd vore for dirty lens (or bad laser 🙁 )

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Its annoying buy not too big of a deal. I'll fiddle around with some different combinations of jumper pins and CD and DVD placement. Thanks.
